The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 454

He appreciated Chen so much and after getting along for so long he had accepted him as part of his family. It seemed a little weird for him to consider someone as family despite knowing them for a short time but in the Republic, people were here today and gone the next. This meant one should treasure those around them because tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone.

“I thought you lost your memory,” he said before taking a long drag of the cigar. The red glow flickered in the darkness before he puffed out a string of smoke.

Yi Chen stood there his back straight as he stared at the houses with dim lights shining through the small windows and replied, “I still don’t remember much but I am certain that he is my wife.”

Old Du smiled and said, “Don’t you mean husband?”

Yi Chen showed a slight smile his heart feeling warm and cosy inside like a fluffy cloud. Husband or wife, he didn’t care. He just loved that person and wanted to be with him. Old Du offered him the cigar but Yi Chen declined politely and he didn’t insist.

He took another long drag before saying, “I am happy for you. I know you are about to leave but how about you stay one more night?”

Thinking of that small bed he had been sleeping on Yi Chen was a little reluctant. If it was him alone he wouldn’t even think twice but now that his wife had come over he didn’t want to wrong him.

“I will ask him,” replied Yi Chen and Old Du chuckled softly before saying,

.....

“I didn’t think you would turn out to be a henpecked husband.”

Yi Chen who was extremely proud of it smiled happily. If anything he was the president of the henpecked husband association.

While the two were engaged in senseless chatter Mi Mi was really trying to dislike this person and make things difficult for him. She was like a jealous want-to-be concubine vying for the prince’s favour despite knowing fully well that the prince didn’t like her. In simple terms, she was throwing a fuss at the wrong person.

Mi Mi kept making snarky remarks but Zi Han didn’t indulge her. He wasn’t making anything complicated.

He was washing the rice when he heard her say, “What if you are just some imposter who fancies him and decided to come to lay claim on him? I wouldn’t put it past you. You look shady as fuck,” said Mi Mi before squeezing the nutritional supplement in her mouth.

Zi Han ignored her. While the rice was cooking, he took out some chicken breasts from his interspatial storage. Most military personnel would carry weapons only but Zi Han was packing every deadly weapon known to man plus food. Zi Han was like a mother with a big kid. He would always carry snacks and food just in case the both of them got stuck in a place where there is no food.

Yi Chen had a very big appetite in and outside the bedroom. A flirtatious smile crept up Zi Han’s face recalling how he would beg for noodles after messing around in bed. Even when he was spent Zi Han would still get up and make them because if he let Yi Chen do it then the entire kitchen might be brought down by him.

Sometimes when he came back to the bedroom, Yi Chen would be fast asleep looking like a tired husky after making trouble for an entire day only to tire himself out.

Zi Han would toss a pillow at him and call out his name. With a guilty look on his face, Yi Chen would pretend like he wasn’t sleeping but resting his eyes.

Zi Han found this amusing. For a person who was terrible at lying he couldn’t understand why Yi Chen would even think for one second that he would believe that lie.

“What are you smiling at?” asked Mi Mi and Zi Han turned to glance at her while placing the thinly sliced chicken into the hot oil.

Because he had seasoned it and let it sit for ten minutes the aroma was especially tantalising that Mi Mi couldn’t help but swallow.

She curiously looked at the ugly looking wok on the gas stove housing such a fragrant dish. Zi Han smiled slightly while adding some chopped green onions and stir fried them till it was mixed well.

“What is that green thing?” asked Mi Mi but when she realised what she asked she pursed her lips feeling a little ashamed. She wanted to hate this person so much but that aroma was enough to have anyone have a change of heart.

“It’s green onion. Do you have any plates I can use?” he asked while adding some sauce and chopped chillis.

Seeing such a colorful meal Mi Mi couldn’t help but nod her head absentmindedly.

She pulled out four metal plates that looked almost new because they were rarely used. While Zi Han was dishing up some rice and stir fried chicken, Mi Mi asked, “Where are you from? You can’t be from the Republic, right?”

Zi Han glanced at her for a moment and said, “If I tell you that then I would have to kill you.”

“You...,” said Mi Mi but even she didn’t know what to say or how to scold him. She just opened and closed her mouth before changing the subject.

“Your skin... it’s so smooth and glossy,” she said but Zi Han ignored her as he continued to dish out the chicken.

Zi Han could feel her curiosity from a mile away thus he wasn’t surprised that Mi Mi reached out with her tiny fingers to pinch his cheek.

She gently squeezed once but she squeezed again having discovered how pleasant it was to touch. It was even softer than it looked. Zi Han couldn’t believe this girl had the audacity to grope him twice
