Chapter 73: How Do You Want to Thank Me?
Today, she could have exposed what Clark Stone had done back then. But she believed that even if she released the video of her being tied up and taken into the hotel, no one would believe it.
After all, in their eyes, Clark Stone was a socially elite figure with outstanding looks and abilities, and he had the Stone family to inherit.
But what about her?
A 200-pound woman despised by even swine and dogs. What would Clark Stone do to her? Even if he did do something to her, in those people’s eyes, it would be seen as charity, something she should gratefully accept rather than resist.
So she had to reluctantly let them all suffer from conjunctivitis with her.
But seeing Lincoln Green’s reaction, he still wasn’t planning to call off the engagement?
Thinking of this, Abigail frowned. What kind of deal had the Green family made with the Stone family?
At this moment, Lincoln Green got into the car, his face gloomy, but daunted by the look Abigail had just given him. He didn’t attempt to act, and with a grim expression, he got off at the Green’s place, instructing the driver to take Abigail back.
Abigail didn’t care. Checking the time, she saw she had been out for just an hour and a half. She sighed in relief and urged the driver to speed up.
Unexpectedly, when she returned to Piers’ Mansion, Brandon Piers was sitting in the living room.
Seeing Abigail walk in with a calm expression, his eyebrow raised ever so slightly. “Teddy is asleep. Keep me company for a game of chess.”
“Where is Elder Piers?” Abigail glanced around and asked.
“Why so many questions?” Brandon Piers glanced at Abigail, his amber eyes piercing.
Abigail was taken aback but quickly regained her composure.
Thinking about today’s activities that were partially facilitated by him, she reluctantly sat down. But after just a few moves, Abigail realized the man’s mind was not on the chess game at all.
“You’ve got guts, don’t you?” After moving a pawn forward, Brandon Piers looked at Abigail’s chubby face and asked.
Just before Abigail walked in, he already knew what she had done at the Stone’s place.
“Maybe because of the extra weight?” Abigail guessed that this second son had eyes and ears everywhere. She didn’t expect that he’d know about her activities at the Stone’s so quickly.
“So being fat has its perks,” Brandon Piers remarked earnestly.
Abigail didn’t mind. “Being fat has many perks. Why don’t you give it a try, Second Son?”
“Bad heart. Can’t handle the burden,” he said, moving his piece forward.
Abigail found it amusing. This man had no qualms about his physical condition. “Check!”
Brandon Piers raised an eyebrow, blocking the check with his cannon. “How are you going to thank me?”
“Surgery for you?”
“Oh, speaking of that, there’s a surgical competition at Sincere Hospital on June 20th. I signed you up for it,” Brandon Piers had no real plans to have Abigail operate on him. But he was genuinely curious to see how her medical skills would rank in this year’s Sincere Hospital competition.
Unlike previous years, Sincere Hospital had invited many high-level professors to preside over the event.
“Thanks.” Abigail shrugged, dodged the man’s attack, and made an aggressive move with her knight. “Check again.”
“Heh,” Brandon Piers chuckled lightly as he saw the knight lying in ambush. He finally got serious but didn’t forget to respond to Abigail. “No need for surgery. Tomorrow, take Teddy for a physical exam. You go along and take good care of him.”
It was just a physical, but Brandon Piers’s tone was particularly cautious, causing Abigail to look up at him. “Is there any danger?”
“Who knows? Check.” This time, it was Brandon Piers’s turn to check.
Abigail shot him a sidelong glance and counterattacked.
But she knew deep down this physical exam for Teddy would not be simple. Thinking of Brandon Piers’s abdominal wound, a bit of seriousness showed on her chubby, white face.
The Piers family was indeed not a place for peace.
If possible, she wanted the child to grow up in an ordinary yet happy and simple environment.
However, she herself was far from being at peace. Before the game could finish, a special guard from Aunt Claudia sent a message.
Aunt Claudia had been sued by Lincoln Green!
