The Strongest Conquest System

Chapter 222: I wouldn't Mind Giving Emu A Snack...

Both the City Lord and the basilisk were left bewildered by this development as they looked toward the new contender with utter astonishment!

That was especially the case for the basilisk, as his thoughts were all over the place upon his trump card being thwarted as easily as that!

\'How could my ultimate attack be swished away like nothing more than a mere minor inconvenience?!? I put all of my energy into that attack, and yet this unknown human swiped it away without even trying!!!\'

The basilisk started to fume from the top as he looked at the fox-masked man with a predatory gaze.

However, his savage glare was immediately put out by the apathetic voice of the unknown man.

"Don\'t try anything, big guy," Azmond began with an inexpressive look on his face, his back turned on the basilisk.

"I wouldn\'t mind giving my Little Emu a new snack if you feel like interrupting me."

"!?!?"

\'This human dares?!?\'

...

"..."

Azmond\'s frosty words were followed by him turning his attention toward the City Lord, completely ignoring the angered basilisk behind him.

"So, why did you do it?" He asked the City Lord.

Alder Rook, who was still in the process of recovering from the moment when he almost burned away his entire existence, turned his exhausted face up toward the dead gaze of the fox-masked man.

"Why did I do what?"

The City Lord didn\'t understand the question that was being asked. What did this new man want with him?

"Why did you betray your own race and jump ships, only to go toward the monster race? A race that would likely leave you hanging and half-dead if it ever got the chance," Azmond began with a curious tone before he repeated his question once more:

"So, why did you do it, City Lord of RiverBloom?"

"..." His question put the City Lord in a deep state of contemplation.

\'Why did I do it, he asks?? Why I did what I did...\'

He bit his oldened lips until blood began to draw.

\'I did it for my Ariana!! But would she have wanted me to do what I did if it meant she would make it out alive?!?\' He questioned himself with a conflicted expression.

\'No, she was too kind for that... Her \'kindness\' is why I did itthat is why I \'killed\' all my people!! I just wanted to see her smile againI wanted to see the smile that saw everything in the world as something to be amazed and appreciated! I wanted to see my Ariana smile once again\'

\'I was wrong, I know... But... I would do it hundreds of times more if there was even the slightest chance that it would allow her to get out of bed...\'

The solemn and doleful City Lord stood suspended in mid-air, blood draining out of his faceand the only thing he could think about was his Ariana...

"..." Azmond saw that look on the City Lord\'s face and didn\'t even need to know why he did what he did.

Although Azmond didn\'t know what exactly he was going through, he knew that he would do the same if Crystalline or Boundless were the one\'s in trouble.

*Whoosh*

He floated over to the City Lord before a light voice escaped his mouth.

"Don\'t worry about it."

*Pat*

A calming voice took The City Lord out of his reverie as a hand clasped onto his shoulder.

He turned his head up, only to see an understanding gleam in the stranger\'s gaze.

And as if they had come to an unexplainable understanding, he also learned that this new man was like him.

The City Lord didn\'t know what told him of such a thing; he just knew it was true.

"Would you like some help with that big guy up there?" Azmond asked as he pointed his thumb behind him.

Both the City Lord and the Basilisk in question knew exactly what this new contender was getting at. And both put on vastly contrasting expressions.

"I don\'t deserve such good will B-But I would appreciate it if you could rid my city of that monster"

The City Lord clenched his oldened fists until they turned whiter than they already were.

He knew he didn\'t deserve such good grace from a complete stranger, and he knew he shouldn\'t hope that this strong man would help him out

but he couldn\'t help it! This was the city that he and his Ariana had built up together! And he ruined it due to his own foolishness!

He refused to allow further harm to befall his city and the beloved people that resided in it!! He didn\'t even care if he had to beg this man for such a favor!!

And the City Lord proved his resolve by doing just that!

*Fwip*

He tried to fall to the ground in order to take on a groveling posture, but before he could...

A firm hand pushed him back up.

"?!?"

"There is no need for that, City Lord. You did what you thought was right, and although it ended up with hundreds of thousands of human deaths, there is no need to grovel.

And if you are really so adamant on wanting to make it up to someone, then you should make it up to those citizens of yours after I clean up the city."

Azmond let go of the City Lord after getting him back on his feet, before his amicable gaze turned to one of indifference as he looked up at the eight thousand-meter-wide basilisk.

A basilisk that was glaring at the conversing humans with obvious hatred in its building-sized eyes!

"You dare threaten me and then ignore me?!? You are truly Courting Death!!!"

The basilisk was no longer patient enough to wait around, as he began to conjure up the same attack that he had used earlier!

\'The last time must\'ve just been a fluke!! I\'ll show this human what my true ultimate card looks like!!\'

His deluded thoughts swam around inside that large, scaly head of his as his dark gray aura reached its absolute Apex!

WAAAA!!
