The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 157: Help?

With that said, Thufrat knew that he had changed, he could feel it. Ark was just a little bit different, but it was easy enough to notice. But since he knew the entire story, there was nothing for him to ask about, he knew exactly why Ark had changed, and he was even surprised that he didn\'t change more than what he did.

Thufrat was not sure who these people were, but now that Ark had already helped them, they could just leave them alone. They had no obligation to help these people any more.

"Let\'s go!"

Thufrat turned around, and Ark quickly followed after him. He had no desire to stay here any longer, he had done what he set out to do after all. Before they could walk far, the young lady of the trio suddenly called out to them. "Wait!"

They both stopped abruptly, but Thufrat was beginning to grow impatient, what did they want this time?

"What do you want?"

It was obvious from his facial expression that he was getting pissed off, and the young lady was quite observant to begin with. Even so, this was something that she had to ask! "I know it might seem very daring of me, but can you please lend us your strength!"

Thufrat\'s originally dark expression turned even darker, was this lady actually asking for even more help? How much did they need to help these people before they were satisfied?

"I know that you probably don\'t want to help us anymore, but I\'m not asking this on my own behalf!"

"These monsters are from a dungeon nearby, and we need every little help we can get to deal with it, otherwise people will get hurt."

"I don\'t know how this happened, but we really need to clear this dungeon to stop this rampage, or blood is going to flow like rivers throughout the forest!"

Even though he was annoyed, there was no way Thufrat could just ignore such a plea for help! Whatever had happened to this dungeon, if the monsters were all on this level, then numerous people would die! Not only people, but magical beasts would all get massacred too. If anything, Ark almost cared more about the magical beasts than the humans at this point.

Even though many of them were hostile, most of them were just trying to survive, and Ark was no different. He would never hunt magical beasts just to get levels.

Ark would of course care about innocent people, but unfortunately, there were not a lot of them. Humans were naturally greedy for different things, and a lot of people let this greed control them, sometimes to the point where there\'s no going back, and that\'s when problems arise.

You see, someone who has done something wrong but regrets it and tries to repent and make up for their mistake could be called a good person, right? But are they truly innocent? No. A truly innocent person that isn\'t a child is hard to find, and only saving the innocents wouldn\'t really work.

Saving others is truly an annoyance. It\'s hard to know who is truly worth saving, and whether it\'s worth putting your life in harm\'s way to try and save someone else. Which is why Ark had mixed feelings when it came to saving humans. He had met truly rotten people, but he had also met nice people who helped him without getting any sort of benefit.

He wasn\'t too conflicted about helping this time though, as clearing this dungeon would only benefit him in the end.

He had just spent a lot of status points, but if he had the chance to earn even more, then he would surely go for it! Getting an opportunity to get stronger just like this wasn\'t something you got every day, and Ark really needed it right now. He was still anxious about the visions he had seen, and just forgetting them wasn\'t going to be possible.

There was no way for Ark to even know if these visions he had seen were real, or if they were just some form of illusion, but he wanted to be ready either way.

If they were real, he would be ready, and if they weren\'t real, then he would just be very strong, which would definitely aid him in his daily life. Thufrat wasn\'t sure if he should say yes, but when he saw Ark nodding furiously, he decided that he would accept their call for help. "I\'ll help you out, but I\'ll only help out a couple of hours or so a day, and I won\'t come alone."

When the trio heard this, they were all secretly happy. They didn\'t ask these people in vain. They naturally assumed that Thufrat would bring the wolves with him when he said that he wouldn\'t come alone, but Thufrat had different plans.

If he was supposed to clear a dungeon, then he wanted to at least have someone to talk to, so he just decided by himself that Ark was going to clear the dungeon with him in his human form.

Ark wasn\'t aware of this, but it didn\'t really matter to him. He didn\'t want anyone to be suspicious of his identity as a wolf, but he doubted that anyone would even come up with the idea that he was a wolf that could turn into a human, it was just a weird guess that practically no one would actually make.

When he heard what Thufrat said, he was feeling a little elated, the only question he had was whether they should bring Atar and Ephine with them into the dungeon.

Even if he didn\'t want them to be subjected to any danger, he also wanted them both to become strong, truly strong. He wanted them both to be strong enough to protect themselves. He couldn\'t protect them forever, even if he really wanted to. What if he was to die one day? What would happen to them then?

They would fall prey to other magical beasts or humans stronger than them, which was why they need strength.

Even though he felt a little conflicted, it wasn\'t a very hard decision to make. Sure, they might be subjected to some danger, but he would always be there to back them up, and as long as he was around, no one would be able to hurt them!

With that said, he still needed to consult them about it of course, he wouldn\'t just make a decision like this on his own and then expect them to just comply or anything.

"Since you\'ve agreed to our proposal, I have a question to ask!"

"Just speak your mind, no need for formalities or anything like that."

"Would you be able to meet us here tomorrow at noon?"

"Sure!"

Since they had come to an agreement, Thufrat was eager to leave and he just promptly turned around and left. Ark felt like sighing upon seeing how impatient his friend was, but he just followed after him.
