Chapter 881 Four Pillars: The Actual Reason

Chapter 881  Four Pillars: The Actual Reason

After all, the answer he had gotten from Vaughn just now was possibly the last answer he was looking for to find out the true identity of the body he had taken over.

Back when he was at Astarto Village, Damian and Tristan had informed him that the Zeihardt surname was the surname of a noble clan.

Then, when he arrived at Clossbay City, the one that was leading the Stelyra clan\'s Astella branch had informed him that he was not merely a part of one of the many branches the Zeihardt clan had at the noble level.

Instead, he was told that he was a member of one of the few Zeihardt clans that were at the royal level.

Not only that, but the man also told him he was a rare member of the Zeihardt clan.

For out of all the members the Zeihardt clan had, he was one of the very few to be classified as a Herald.

It was also through Aster that he found out the reason why he had woken up on Tryndall\'s carriage that led to Astarto Village, with him being told that his existence as a Herald had caused the Zeihardt clan to split into two factions.

After that, the council of the Imperial Production Guild and the people from the guild that brought him to Algerie Kingdom allowed him to find out what it meant to be a Herald, finally understanding the ramifications that came with such a title.

By perusing through the various books the Algerie Kingdom\'s Myriad Archives held, he then found out more about what it meant to be a Herald, as well as the history that surrounded the humans of Veldanyr and the Zeihardt clan.

Quite some time had passed after that, with the young man busy in fulfilling tasks that would allow his strength to reach greater heights.

However, that all changed when he had a conversation with Mystia Aschel, the current Imperial Alchemist of the Meltierre Empire, as well as Vera Aschel\'s aunt.

Through her, he found out that he was not just considered a Herald, but rather a Harbinger, someone who had inherited more of the founder\'s blood.

Recalling the journey he had taken, as well as the questions he had asked along the way to get to this point, Valyr took in a few deep breaths before letting out a long sigh.

Then, bringing up the system, he took a look at the notification he had received from Vaughn\'s statements.

Ding!

[You have gained an important piece of information regarding your true identity.]

[By meeting the creator of Veldanyr\'s new human race, the ancestor of the Zeihardt clan you\'ve originated from, you have finally obtained the true identity that you\'ve long sought to obtain.]

[With that, your journey ends here, finally removing all of the shackles that have been binding you from the start.]

[Though you bear the surname of the Zeihardt clan, your heart beats the blood of the Darkstar lineage, a lineage of humans that have achieved feats far greater than what the current human race can achieve.]

[Through this blood, not only do you inherit the strength of the humans from a forsaken past, but also the will and hope to keep their existence known.]

[To keep the embers of a forgotten remnant burning.]

Whoosh!

Just as he had finished reading through the lines of text the system had thrown at him through the notifications, Valyr began to feel a faint rumbling starting from his stomach, only for it to expand throughout his entire body.

Thump!

Then, as the rumbling began to increase its intensity, Valyr\'s heart began to beat loudly, causing him to vividly feel the blood that was flowing throughout his body.

However, unlike before, he felt as if the blood flowing throughout him was foreign yet familiar at the same time, causing a slight chill wherever it flowed through.

Fortunately, as more and more time passed, this chill gradually disappeared while the sense of foreignness disappeared along with it.

Eventually, the blood flowing throughout his body caused him to feel greater strength flowing through his body, making him feel as if parts of his potential that were sealed all this time were now finally being brought to the surface.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Closing his eyes to focus his senses on the minute changes happening to his body, Valyr soon sensed that the cells making up his body were being filled to the brim with energy through the flowing blood.

Then, after those cells were filled to the brim with energy, the cells converted into vitality, prompting him to feel that he now had the ability to unearth more strength from his body than ever before.

At the same time, the increased vitality made him feel a sensation that could not directly be explained in words.

Though, if he were to come up with something that could describe the sensation, then the closest thing he could say was that it felt his life was being manually extended.

By the time he opened his eyes, over half an hour had passed since his body began to rumble.

Looking around his surroundings, he noticed that his senses were far sharper than before, prompting him to look at the man beside him.

Seeing that Vaughn had a smile on his face while looking at him, the young man gave a faint smile back, only to feel that there was a layer of something that was covering his entire body.

Bringing up his arm to get a better look at what that something was, Valyr immediately used a series of Water-based spells on himself after finding out that the something he was looking at was, in fact, the impurities he had accumulated.

By the time he had washed off all the impurities off his skin, the young man felt as if he had been reborn both internally and externally.

Letting out a faint sigh of relief as he changed into a new set of clothes, Valyr then brought up his notifications, recalling that the system had gone off a couple of times while he was in the midst of what he soon figured out as his body undergoing a massive transformation.

Ding!

[Due to the information you\'ve obtained, the skill \'Ancestral Blood of the Zeihardts\' has now fully awakened. The skill\'s name has been changed to reflect that fact, now being named \'Sole Inheritor of the Darkstar Lineage\'.]

[Due to the information you\'ve obtained, the skill \'Ancestral Blood of the Zeihardts\' has now fully awakened. Your current species has ascended to a higher species to reflect that fact, evolving from \'Human (3rd Unsealing)\' to \'Old Veldanyr Human | Pseudo-High Human (3rd Unsealing)\'.]

[Due to the information you\'ve obtained, you have obtained the title \'Inheritor of a Long-forgotten Past (Veldanyr)\'.]

[Due to the information you\'ve obtained, you have obtained the title \'Anachronistic Remnant of a Long-forgotten Past (Veldanyr)\'.]

Reading through the notifications that talked about the things he gained from the transformation, the smile on Valyr\'s face turned into a slight grin, getting a better idea of why the transformation had occurred in the first place.

\'Pretty sure the transformation has something to do with my species changing,\' thought the young man to himself, feeling the newfound strength course throughout his body as he clenched his fists.

However, even though he was curious as to what each thing specifically gave him, the young man decided to shelve the thought for a later time.

Instead, with the transformation now over, Valyr looked at Vaughn with a calm expression, a certain question lingering in his mind.

At this point, most, if not all of the questions he had regarding the memories and the Four Pillars\' Inheritance were answered through both the memory he saw and the conversation he had with Vaughn.

With that, only a couple questions remained in his mind.

These questions were either things that had yet to be answered by the man beside him, or things that hadn\'t been answered by the memory or the previous conversation at all.

Taking a bit of time to sort out the question in his mind, Valyr eventually opened his mouth to speak.

"I don\'t know why, but I\'m getting the feeling that you haven\'t told me the actual reason why you\'ve brought me into the Gates of Transcendence."

"…?" At those words, Vaughn looked back at Valyr before giving him a slight playful smile.

"Now what makes you think that?"

"Well, a couple of things," replied Valyr. "For one, you told me that you\'ve chosen me to inherit your position as the owner of the inheritance, but that has no connection with you bringing me to this place."

"Then, once we entered the Gates of Transcendence, you showed me the final memory of the First Forger, as well as the memory that showed a part of Veldanyr that was seemingly lost to time."

"Though I did ask you a few questions related to the memory, not once have you told me the reason why you\'ve decided to show the memory in the first place."

"Let\'s exclude the memory of the First Forger since you said that it was a reward for entering the Gates of Transcendence. However, the same couldn\'t be said for the other one."

"So… what\'s the actual reason as to why you brought me here?" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Listening to Valyr\'s entire explanation, Vaughn merely smiled.

Only after the young man was done did the man begin to speak.

Tapping on the porch they sat on, the man had a calm smile on his face.

"Remember how I said after we entered this place that the chances of information leaking out from here is significantly lower compared to any other place in the inheritance?"

Obtaining a faint nod from Valyr in response, Vaughn continued. "That actually has something to do with it. In fact, the memory I showed you on Veldanyr\'s history also has something to do with it."

"So, what\'s the reason, then?" asked Valyr in response, sensing that the man was beating around the bush again.

Thankfully, the man did not beat around the bush any longer after that, the smile on his face becoming wider as he looked at the young man.

"The reason why I had you enter this place and watch that other memory was so you could inherit my will."

"In other words, I want you to finish what I\'ve already started."

"And that would be…?" Valyr raised his eyebrow in curiosity.

"A really simple task." Vaughn let out a chuckle, only for his gaze to gain a murderous glint soon after.

"You just have to kill the two Arbiters in my stead."
