Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 92: A Gift From a Friend

And that Fire fang Dog, the one that just took down the Thunder Swiftbird, wasn’t that Qiao Sang’s?

The scene was too much for Ye Ranyan to process. She stood there, frozen in shock.

The middle-aged woman who had arrived with her dismounted from the Wind Eagle and quickly approached Qiao Sang, asking, "Child, were you the one who called the police?"

Qiao Sang, who was still caught up in the thrill of Yabao snatching victory, was startled by the sudden question.

Turning her head, she saw a medium-built, slightly plump female police officer in uniform.

"Yes, that was me!" Qiao Sang replied.

She hadn’t expected anyone to arrive, especially after being cut off halfway through her emergency call.

If this had been her previous life, such efficiency would have been unheard of.

Seeing that the girl who called the police was unharmed, the middle-aged woman let out a sigh of relief.

"Yap!"

At this moment, Yabao ran to Qiao Sang’s side, vigilantly eyeing the newcomers.

"Where’s Zhou Xian?" The middle-aged woman asked, glancing at the Fire fang Dog.

Based on her years of experience, she quickly pieced the situation together.

The Thunder Swiftbird was unconscious, there was another charred creature on the ground that looked like a pet beast, and an out-of-place Fire fang Dog that clearly didn’t belong in this level of combat.

There must be another beastmaster on the mountain who could go toe-to-toe with Zhou Xian, and they had to be at a high level.

That charred pet beast on the ground likely belonged to them, but there was no sign of the person, probably because they were fighting Zhou Xian somewhere else on the mountain.

They needed to go help immediately. Maybe they could apprehend Zhou Xian without waiting for backup.

Qiao Sang pointed to a patch of grass behind them.

"Over there."

Yabao, seeing that his beastmaster was interacting peacefully with the stranger, relaxed his stance.

The middle-aged woman was momentarily stunned and quickly turned her gaze behind her.

When she saw a man lying unconscious with two lumps on his head, hands tied, and eyes closed, she froze for a good while.

Was that Zhou Xian?!

The woman took a deep breath and quickly moved closer to inspect him.

Though the man lying there looked rather pitiful, she could still recognize his usually handsome face. It was indeed Zhou Xian!

She was in shock.

How could he be unconscious? How did he end up with two lumps on his head? And… why did the thing tying his hands look suspiciously like shoelaces?!

On the way here, she had imagined countless scenarios of what she might find, but never this!

At that moment, Ye Ranyan walked over, looking at Qiao Sang with a strange expression.

She asked, "A-Sang, why are you on this mountain? Did you run into anyone? And your Fire fang Dog, how did it end up fighting the Thunder Swiftbird?"

Qiao Sang turned and was surprised to see her.

"Yan-jie, you\'re here too."

There were too many questions, and Qiao Sang didn’t know which one to answer first. But now wasn’t the time to get into details.

"I’ll explain everything later." Qiao Sang said, before looking down at the Stone Helm Spirit on the ground.

The most important thing now was that there was still one more target to take down!

"Helm…"

The Stone Helm Spirit let out a weak groan.

It deeply regretted everything after seeing the Thunder Swiftbird fall.

How did things turn out this way? Why did they even start fighting in the first place?

Right—

It was all because of that human standing in front of it.

That vile human!

The Stone Helm Spirit glared at Qiao Sang before suddenly passing out from rage.

Just before it lost consciousness, it vaguely heard someone sorrowfully calling its name.

Its master...

"Stone Helm Spirit!" Qiao Sang cried out in despair.

Her points!

Ye Ranyan stood there, confused. Stone Helm Spirit? Wasn’t that Zhou Xian’s pet, the one from the records? That charred creature?

"Ah-Sang, what is going on?" Ye Ranyan asked, her face dazed.

The middle-aged woman looked over upon hearing this.

Though surprised that Ye Ranyan knew this girl, she knew now wasn’t the time to worry about small details.

She too stared at Qiao Sang, waiting for her explanation.

Qiao Sang, snapping out of her sadness over the Stone Helm Spirit fainting before she could finish it off, began explaining everything that had happened. There was no reason to hide anything.

By the time other police officers arrived, they were greeted with the sight of their team’s best-looking officer and a senior veteran, both standing slack-jawed in shock.

As for the Silver Tail Sea Serpent, its capture went unexpectedly smoothly. When they found it, it was sleeping soundly alongside its master.

---

"Ah-Sang, you’ll have to come to the police station to make a statement." Ye Ranyan said with a grin.

"You’ve got some insane luck! You’ll have to tell Auntie and the others about this when you get home. You’ll scare them to death."

Qiao Sang nodded. It wasn’t her first time giving a police statement.

"I need to head home first, my bag is still there." Qiao Sang said.

"What do you need your bag for? It’s just a statement. I’ll drive you home afterward." Ye Ranyan replied, patting her shoulder with a smile.

Qiao Sang paused for a moment, then said seriously, "I don’t remember my account number. My bank card is in that bag."

"What do you need a bank card for?" Ye Ranyan asked, puzzled.

Qiao Sang remained silent, simply looking at her.

Her silence spoke volumes.

A few moments passed.

Ye Ranyan: !!!

It finally hit her, and she stared at Qiao Sang in shock, speechless for a long time.

Holy crap, her cousin, who had just graduated middle school, was about to become a millionaire?!

As they prepared to leave Huangming Mountain, Qiao Sang suddenly asked the still-dazed Ye Ranyan, "Did you bring any food with you?"

"Huh? What food? What kind of food?" Ye Ranyan muttered, still out of it.

Qiao Sang: ...

"Do you have any snacks on you?" Qiao Sang asked again.

"I’m on a diet, so I didn’t bring anything. Mostly because I’m broke." Ye Ranyan replied, pausing for a moment.

Qiao Sang: ...

She had wanted to give the Magnemouses something to eat as a farewell, but all her food was stored in Little Treasure’s ring.

Given Little Treasure’s current state, it probably couldn’t hear her.

She’d have to take Little Treasure to a Beast Center for a checkup after they got off the mountain.

Qiao Sang glanced around but couldn’t spot the Magnemouse mother and child that had been there earlier.

"Yap!" At that moment, Yabao barked at a particular spot.

Qiao Sang followed its gaze and saw two yellow heads, one big and one small, peeking out from a bush, staring back at her.

When Qiao Sang noticed them, the two Magnemouses smiled warmly, and one of them pushed a green fruit out of the bush with its little yellow paw.

It was a Fullness Fruit.

Qiao Sang blinked in surprise and walked over to pick up the fruit.

She parted the bushes, but the two Magnemouses had already disappeared.

Qiao Sang stood there, holding the Fullness Fruit in a daze.

Just then, Ye Ranyan came over and asked in amazement, "Did you just find that on the ground? I thought the Fullness Fruit trees were far from here."

Qiao Sang snapped out of her thoughts and smiled. "No, it was a gift from a friend."
