Villain – Peeking at the Diary, the Female Leads’ Personas Collapse

Chapter 11 - The Protagonist Won’t Die, Right?

“I encountered Ye Aotian.”

“Uh, and then?”

“I saw him seeking out Liu Chong, apparently for revenge. And, Liu Chong’s dead. Ye Aotian killed him.”

Phew.

Chen Fan let out a sigh of relief.

At least the storyline was on track, and the plot was still progressing. If Ye Aotian hadn’t killed Liu Chong, that would have been a serious problem.

“But, Ye Aotian seems to have been injured. There were a few guys who fought really well and beat him up pretty badly.”

Chen Fan was stunned.

“Ye Aotian … didn’t die, did he?”

As expected, you’re more concerned about the protagonist’s life.

Jin Lan was testing Chen Fan, trying to figure out what role this transmigrator was meant to play. But seeing how nervous he got, Jin Lan understood that Chen Fan didn’t want Ye Aotian to die, or rather, that the plot had to keep moving forward.

“No, he didn’t die. He’s just badly injured and probably went to the hospital. If you make a call now, someone could arrest him, and he’d be convicted on the spot.”

Chen Fan looked at the phone in front of him. He understood that Jin Lan was telling him that with just one phone call, the protagonist would be done for. The story would end right here.

“That won’t be necessary. I’d prefer to play with him slowly. Torturing someone doesn’t always mean killing them. Letting him watch me and Lin Qingyue together, breaking him bit by bit—that’s the best form of torture.”

What the hell? Who is this? Which part of the plan went wrong? Could it be … Dad? It seemed likely, like something Dad would do. But no, Dad’s not that bored. Then who the hell is causing this butterfly effect?

“Suit yourself. I was just giving you a heads-up. Do with it as you wish. By the way, do you really like Lin Qingyue?”

Jin Lan already knew the answer, but she wanted to see how Chen Fan would act out his role.

“Actually … I do like her, a little. Sister Jin, you know the kinds of women I’ve been around since I was young. She’s really different from them. Her smile is beautiful, and she’s stunning. Every glance, every smile, I find enchanting. I think … I’m completely in love with her.”

The massage girl looked up at Chen Fan, her eyes filled with tenderness. Clearly, she was moved by his devotion. Even Chen Fan thought he was being quite romantic. He mentally applauded himself for that performance.

Jin Lan chuckled internally.

Keep acting, Chen Fan, keep it up. The person who most wants to strangle Lin Qingyue is probably you.

“Those guys were sent by me.”

What the hell? Are you out of your mind? Are you just bored?

“Boss, what are you …?”

“Just testing his abilities. Didn’t expect him to be so capable. But in the end, it’s you young people’s business—you can handle it yourselves.”

Chen Fan nodded.

He let out a breath of relief.

That sounded like something Jin Lan would do. In his memory, Ye Aotian’s pursuit of Jin Lan was fraught with difficulties. That road was always going to be a tough one.

After saying this, Jin Lan closed her eyes and rested.

Once their massages were over, Jin Lan headed home by herself and didn’t ask Chen Fan to escort her.

[That scared me to death. Damn, that was terrifying. Thank goodness Jin Lan didn’t blow up.]

[Seriously, don’t go and kill Ye Aotian. If he dies, how will the story continue?]

[Poor protagonist, hang in there! I’m rooting for you.]

[Let me think about my next scene.]

[Oh right, next I’m supposed to bring flowers to Lin Qingyue and then bump into Ye Aotian.]

[I need to humiliate him and have a little fight. Hmm, what position should I fall into?]

[Is Ye Aotian still seriously injured? What if he can’t beat me?]

[I’ve been holding back, using only one percent of my strength. I’m really worried I might accidentally kill him.]

[This boss is getting more and more out of hand. Next time, I’ll have to find another place for a massage. This area has been compromised. I’m starting to think Jin Lan’s been thinking about men lately. Scary, old woman.]

Heh. What do you mean by old woman? Am I really that old?

“Old Huang, am I old?”

“Boss, what are you talking about? Girls in their twenties don’t look as young as you.”

“Really? Old Huang, you’ve been flattering me a lot lately.”

“Working with you makes me happy, that’s all.”

Jin Lan stared out the window, muttering to herself, “Old Huang, do you think one day I’ll become a woman who just serves men?”

“I don’t know, but I think no man is worthy of you.”

Jin Lan didn’t respond.

At that moment, Old Huang was scared out of his wits.

Damn, what’s gotten into the boss lately? Is she trying to make my life hell with all this every day?

Meanwhile, Lin Qingyue, having just finished her work, was looking at the day’s events in the notebook.

She burst out laughing.

This was way more entertaining than any TV drama. Reading this journal had practically become part of her daily routine.

Revenge, retaliation? He even killed someone? How interesting. I’m really curious, what makes this Ye Aotian like me so much? And Chen Fan, what a scoundrel. In his eyes, do I really seem so worthless? He’s going to bring me flowers and confess, all while putting on an act? How amusing. Very amusing.

Jin Lan was logical and thought things through carefully. So she wouldn’t act recklessly.

But Lin Qingyue wasn’t like that. She’s still young. Her pride told her that no man could insult her like that. She didn’t care about Ye Aotian’s situation anymore. Now, she was focused on Chen Fan.

Since you want to confess, I’ll play along. I’m curious to see how things will unfold.

“Secretary, prepare some outfits for me. What kind of clothes? The good-looking kind. Someone’s going to confess to me tomorrow.”

????

The secretary was dumbfounded.

What’s going on? Confessions come with advance notice now?
