Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime

Chapter 137 - 137: Scolded to Tears

Purple Summers received a call from Aria Jackson in the car.

“You were spot on!” Aria’s voice trembled with excitement, “Henry Jameson’s sperm really was on that thing! The girls in forensics also found another woman’s secretions, Chloe Bennett is finally out of excuses!”

“Is that so, that’s great.” Purple spoke with a lack of enthusiasm.

Aria was taken aback, and asked her, “What’s wrong?”

“I’m fine…” Purple said depressively. She couldn’t describe the feeling of being manipulated and feeling so helpless.

This time Alexander graciously spared her, but what about next time? And the time after that?

That man had no principles, she knew that one day, he would lure her into his bed and ravish her, just as he did with those other women.

Purple felt a bleak future ahead of her.

“Let’s meet with Chloe Bennett.” Purple pressed her temples, attempting to distract herself, “Let Marcel pretend to be Henry’s defense attorney and set up a meeting with her, you should also go and bring the forensics evidence.”

Aria was surprised: “Not going to court?”

“It would be best to handle this out of court.” Purple explained, “Henry’s been hiding something from us, if the opposing lawyer digs it up, even if we win the case, the Jameson Family’s reputation will be tarnished.”

“I see…”

They decided on a meeting location. Instead of going home, Purple asked Zack Wallace to drive her to the meeting place.

On the way, Marcel Jefferson called.

He seemed to be caught off guard, his voice trembling, “Sis, do we need to confront her now? I wasn’t able to find out the account name because the sellers said it violated the buyer’s privacy…”

Marcel was very embarrassed. He had confidently asserted that he would be able to find it, but when he actually started the investigation, he got nowhere.

His face flushed with humiliation.

Purple told him: “It’s okay, I’ve found it.”

Marcel, bewildered, responded, “What???”

Purple hung up the phone.

The meeting was set at a tea shop near the community where Chloe Bennett lived.

Chloe Bennett did not initially want to meet, but when she heard that an officer was going to be there, she reluctantly agreed to attend.

Purple ordered a red bean pudding milk tea and began sipping it leisurely at the entrance of the tea shop.

Marcel also held a cup of milk tea, though not for himself, it was for his cousin.

He asked Purple, “Sharll we not go in?”

Purple replied, “You can go in if you want.”

“What about you?”

“I’m too young, it won’t be much use if I do.” Purple bit the straw, looking through the glass window with a blank expression. “Having Officer Jackson taking action is enough.”

Purple was aware, she was still just a child and it was better left to the adults who can coerce, usually resulting in a better outcome.

That’s a matter of specialization.

Marcel peeked into the glass window, seeing her cousin inside fiercely slamming her hand on the table and throwing documents around, he couldn’t help feeling scared.

That was truly terrifying…

Inside the tea shop, Chloe Bennett’s face paled and reddened. Tears welled up in her vividly distinct eyes and finally, she could no longer hold back her tears and ran out of the shop, sobbing uncontrollably.

Marcel immediately ran inside, saying, “Cousin, you made her cry!”

Aria, her face pale with unresolved anger, spat out, “What did I say to her? I just asked why Henry’s and another woman’s were on that thing, whether it’s a rape or a, a threesome!”

Marcel shook his head incessantly, “Cousin, you’re too harsh. She’s just a delicate young girl. Aren’t you scared that she might commit suicide when she gets home? That’s a young life at stake!”

“It’s my fault?” Aria sneered, “I’m helping her, she’ll thank me when she grows up!”

Purple interrupted the siblings, asking Aria, “Did Chloe Bennett agree to turn herself in?”
