Only I Am A Reader

Chapter 354 Destroying The Flag!

Although the Demon Lord was the highest known authority in the Demon World, other than the prestige granted to him by the role, he was nothing more than a key that allowed them to enter new hunting grounds.

No one mourned the death of the Demon Lord! Just like it did before, the entity that assigned him his authority would just choose another vessel. However, that was not the case for the other side…

The sight of the two strongest entities on the battlefield being enveloped by the scarlet light before shattering into specs like bursting bubbles was worth the attention of those who could spare it. The Unrestrained Martial Artists couldn\'t help staring at the sight in shock, especially those of the Heavenly Strength Society.

No one could have predicted an outcome like this! This wasn\'t even a Dantian detonation, it seemed some strange phenomenon that withered the two heads in mere seconds.

The Four Pillars shared a grim expression. In fact, even the stiff Cheon Chang wore a small frown on his face. It appeared like they knew that such a possibility existed, but for it to come true was out of place.

\'This was something that I couldn\'t have changed.\'

The Transcendent Leo and Yeon pushed back the monster they were facing to properly see that moment. Unlike the rest, Yeon unknowingly had the strongest connection with the Heavenly Demon, yet it was only after his death that she started to feel and understand a part of it.

The sentiments being passed, the burden that made her feel so unwell at the start being completely lifted... It was indeed not her turn just as Leo had said, but now… There was no longer someone who could hold the fort in her place.

Although only one tear had momentarily escaped her eyes that shone with their brightest scarlet, someone still noticed it.

\'This is frustrating…\'

Once again, Leo experienced the cons of his eternal role as a reader. Knowing everything wasn\'t always great. From the very beginning, he knew that the Demon Lord would be a variant Devourer, he also knew that the Heavenly Demon would die. However, he couldn\'t do anything about it!

The situation was exactly like the opposite of plot armor, the Demon Lord was seriously unkillable. The only route in which he could die had to end in the Heavenly Demon\'s death. Unlike what he did with the Poison Dragon, Leo couldn\'t interfere to replace the one making the sacrifice…

Not to mention Yeon\'s reaction, Leo simply didn\'t want their Society Leader to die but his hands were tied. It was necessary for the protagonist\'s plot that the biggest threat in his path dies here.

\'I gotta take it all in.\'

To feel powerful or powerless, being blind or all-knowing, no role truly encompassed all of that. Since he had been enjoying the privileges so far, it only made sense for Leo to accept his inability to play with the roots of the world… At least for now.

\'Still, we need to handle that.\'

The irreversible death of the Heavenly Demon had already taken place. However, he still had the chance to make a move and alter the following sequence!

With one eye exchange, Leo pulled Yeon out of her state as they both rushed toward the Basilisk blocking their way, turning it into four even pieces of meat before charging further!

Despite their momentary pause, the Unrestrained Martial Artists quickly went back to battle regardless of their affiliation, but Leo and Yeon made use of that to rush past the monsters without engaging in more battles.

Cheon Jeong caught sight of them and gave them a glare, but Leo and Yeon just ignored her as they went on their way. Before long, they quickly reached the death sight of both the Heavenly Demon and the Demon Lord!

Nobody else noticed since the scene made it seem like they were erased from existence, but in reality, the two powerhouses didn\'t forget to leave their marks on this world, and this was precisely what Leo was aiming for!

However, before making any move on his target, he quickly scanned the vicinity with his eyes before taking out the Emerald Calamity, drawing his bow, and shooting at a close spot.

Gah!

\'Now no one can interfere.\'

A suppressed scream rose and died just as quickly as Leo shot his Qi arrow. Just like all wars, there were always scavengers that sought to collect the possessions of the dead. The situation in this battle for survival was no different.

In all honesty, Leo had no grudge against those who came to steal anything covered in blood. After all, he wasn\'t their judge. Nonetheless, the scavenger that he had just shot aimed to steal his and Yeon\'s belongings, so it was a different story!

Even then, Leo would have been merciful enough to let him live if he was a normal greedy person who knew when to screw off. However, considering how he did things, he was bound to try and trip them to get what he desired. In fact, it was exactly that scavenger that triggered the mini-arc that Leo and other readers hated the most!

\'That can not happen.\'

Regardless of love or hate, that kind of development simply couldn\'t come to pass. This was the exact moment that planted his death flag, and Leo was naturally hellbent on destroying it before it touched the ground!

Since the crack had already been closed, the pair didn\'t need to worry about monsters coming at them from nowhere. Still, after only sparing a few more seconds for another quick check, Leo advanced into the damaged crater to get his objective…

No one knew if one of the monsters at the front would risk ignoring their opponents before rushing at them!
