Chapter 193 - Throwing Uncle Under The Bus
Huishe Yue lay flat on the ground feeling exhausted not because of the confrontation with Qilin Kai but the thought of training with Rui Fei. Rui Fei was his nephew and it was his responsibility as the uncle to nurture him but whatever Prince Rui did to him left the kid with so much aggression, aggression beyond the Huishe clan.
Don\'t look at the way he acts around Ji Yao and assume he is an obedient adorable cub. That was merely a personality reserved for his sweetheart. To everyone else, he was either cold, strict, unfeeling and sometimes rude. Ask this uncle and he will tell you.
He had just recently reunited with his estranged nephew but in that short span of time, he had come face to face with his true nature. If this cub was placed side by side with Huishe Yue\'s father they would be an exact replica of each other except that Rui Fei\'s level of aggression was beyond recompense.
Now that he had ruined Rui Fei\'s sweet moment with Ji Yao the price to pay could only be high. But one can\'t blame him for exploding like that. Qilin Kai had a foul enchanting mouth that could rope in anyone more especially Lan Wu.
Using some random excuse Lan Wu left right after dinner. Huishe Yue who had been full from eating an entire roasted pig lay on Lan Wu\'s bed, without his permission of course, slowly digesting his scrumptious meal. He didn\'t move an inch simply waving him off.
It was only after Lan Wu was gone for thirty minutes did Huishe Yue sit up straight his mind recovering from its sluggish state. Looking at the closed door he suddenly had a sneaky suspicion that something was wrong.
Lan Wu had been acting a little off lately. Everything seemed normal and by normal I mean Lan Wu would be pampering him as he should as a lackey. He was readily available at his back and call which was great. But ever since he asked him about Wei Wei and Huishe Yue shut him down things hadn\'t really been the same. Lan Wu seemed dazed half the time which wasn\'t an immediate concern then but after thinking through it carefully he became worried.
Worried for the welfare of his lackey he got up and stared blankly into space while putting on his boots. He stood up and strode over to the front of the mirror smoothing his hair out. That\'s when his eyes widened as he had suddenly figured it out.
As expected Lan Wu was on Red Bane in the brig talking to Qilin Kai. Lan Wu had come here to ask about this so called wife and what sort of fate would Huishe Yue have with her after going back to Niuq. But of course, Qilin Kai dizzied him with a lot of nonsense trying to lure him into releasing the shackles.
His exact words were, "Their bond is for life and it can\'t be broken. As for you he would treat you as a servant but if you come to me I will treat you the way you truly deserve," in an alluring voice like a snake demon trying to convince a rabbit that it\'s an honour to be eaten by it.
But Lan Wu wasn\'t necessarily a bunny and didn\'t exactly fall for it. He was trying to pry more information from Qilin Kai pretending to sympathize with him. The only issue was that while things were going down Huishe Yue happened to walk in and see this scene.
Lan Wu had a hard to describe expression on his face that Huishe Yue hadn\'t seen before. It looked like a look of admiration coupled with sympathy. He was like a sidekick staring at his boss with a look of adoration and this didn\'t settle well with Huishe Yue.
In fact, he lost his mind and thus the argument began. Through those bars, Huishe Yue sent a sinister black fog towards Qilin Kai which sent him flying straight into the wall. Qilin Kai who hadn\'t exactly recovered from Rui Fei\'s blow earlier was now subjected to the same attack by Rui Fei\'s uncle and struck at the same place. The only difference this time was that he lost a couple of teeth which he didn\'t appreciate.
You would think someone in Qilin Kai\'s situation would shut his mouth afterwards but he didn\'t.
He spat out the blood from his mouth and stared glaringly at Huishe Yue as he wiped the corner of his lips. Standing up he added fumes to the flame by saying, "No wonder she came to me..... it seems the clan leader\'s son has special interests. What? You couldn\'t get it up with her because you actually like...."
His provocative gaze swept towards Lan Wu who stood beside Huishe Yue. Huishe Yue couldn\'t stand this level of disrespect so he did the inevitable. Wei Wei was his sore spot.
When he found out about her illicit affair his self-esteem was crushed. Questions like, \'aren\'t I good enough or \'what was I lacking\', was wreaking havoc in his heart. His pride truly took a hit when he found out about her and Qilin Kai. Sure, the guy was handsome but still.
Before he could even reach that bastard\'s neck and murder him he was suddenly held back by Big Hei and Xunshi Zhe. He could have easily pushed them away if he fully engaged his aether but considering this was Ji Yao\'s ship he restrained himself. Who would have thought though that he would manage to offend his nephew despite all that?
"Are you going to behave yourself now?" asked Rui Fei staring down at his uncle like an emperor dissatisfied with his subordinate.
Huishe Yue gulped before replying, "Sure," with a profound gaze. Rui Fei got up while signalling with his hand for them to let him go. Xunshi Zhe and Big Hei reluctantly let him go.
It felt so good subduing a pure Nocru boosting their confidence. If they only knew that Huishe Yue was barely using ten per cent of his straight in consideration of Ji Yao they would vomit out a mouthful of blood.
"Come with me," said Rui Fei before leading the way. He was like a student that had been falsely accused of committing an offence and dragged the true culprit to the principal\'s office to confess.
Huishe Yue stood up and he straightened his robe. He looked back at Lan Wu who had his head hung low like he had done something wrong before following his nephew. Lan Wu didn\'t even raise his head once to look at him.
This made Huishe Yue very uncomfortable in his heart. As expected everyone around him always betrayed him. This is why a life of a loner was better.. At least then he wouldn\'t be disappointed.
