Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 42: I’m not gonna go on a marriage interview anyway (1)

Chen Jinyao stepped out of the guest room in her slippers and shut the door. When she passed by the living room, she saw Danny jumping down the sofa with ease. Then, it blocked her way. After rubbing itself on her ankles, it decided to rest right on top of her foot, its furry body unmoving as it took advantage of its weight.

“…” She raised a brow and thought to herself, she’s really quite popular today.

She gently moved her leg and kicked at the cat’s butt, but Danny wasn’t moving at all, even wrapping tighter around her after letting out a purr.

After a couple of minutes in this stalemate, Chen Jinyao lost the battle. She let out a sigh and softened her expression, leaning down to carry it into her arms, stroking the cat’s fur and making it feel so pleased that it narrowed its eyes in comfort.

Danny was completely unguarded and had no idea that this owner had already begun taking advantage of its young and innocent self in order to protect her sister Chen Jinlin’s life.

In truth, all those scary and threatening words weren’t just Chen Jinyao’s paranoia. From Yan Cheng’s perspective, interrupting a man who was overtaken by the flames of passion and even getting ahead of themselves was a recipe for disaster.

She pursed her lips and was convinced of her assumptions.

But Chen Jinyao clearly forgot that that didn’t mean she was able to completely grasp Yan Cheng’s deepest thoughts. At the very least, she could be sure that Yan Cheng wasn’t crazy enough as to wake up in the middle of the night and start hacking at Chen Jinlin with a kitchen knife…

But if the visitors were Shao Chongsi and the others, then she couldn’t be so sure.

Yan Cheng repressed his anger and just thought of it as helping a person out.

No matter how unhappy he was, he could only swallow it down.

But, just because he wasn’t going to bring it up with Chen Jinlin doesn’t mean that this matter was over.

Only

The sins that Chen Jinlin inadvertently committed would, in the end, be paid for by her sister, Chen Jinyao.

The suggestive orange light had been turned off long ago, replaced by the cool blinding white light. The temperature within the room didn’t seem to have been completely dropped, and the air also seemed to be mixed with sparks that could be set off at any time. Yan Cheng regained his calm and laid down in bed. When he heard the sound coming from the door, he opened his eyes lazily and the door was finally opened a short moment later. He saw Chen Jinyao come in with Danny. He narrowed his eyes and scoffed. Then, he gradually relaxed his frown and there still seemed to be some care from his pursed lips. “Has Chen Jinlin settled down?”

The room was quiet for a moment.

Looking at each other after a failed session in bed caused a feeling of shame to climb up her head.

Chen Jinyao’s ears were red. Hesitating for a moment, she said, “Yeah.”

“What are you standing around for? Come and sleep if she’s settled down!” Yan Cheng couldn’t help but urge her when he saw Chen Jinyao standing by the door.

He had a pure conscience and wasn’t thinking anything impure in the slightest right now. The atmosphere had already been destroyed and it wasn’t easy to stir up new waves after his blood cooled. What’s more, he was physically mentally exhausted even if he wanted to try something. He just wanted to shut off the lights and hold Chen Jinyao to sleep.

However, not even such a small wish of his could be granted!
