Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 2: Help Bail Me Out (2)

After his marriage, everyone thought that the two sides of the drawbridge would part, no longer to intersect. But who would have thought that Zhou Xue would schedule to meet up with him right before his marriage, just so she could request a position for her cousin. And Yan Cheng himself didn’t think things through–he actually arranged for Zhou Chao to run the bar.

While he left abroad with his newly wedded wife for their honeymoon, he let Zhou Xue’s cousin directly take charge of Er Guan. Many people wanted to pry into Yan Cheng’s mind to find out why he would make such a careless decision!

Yan Cheng responded with a low ‘Hmm..’ but it was unclear whether he replied to the first question or affirmed the second one.

In any case, those who were tactful knew that mentioning ‘Zhou Xue’ wasn’t appropriate for the time being. Shao Chongsi changed the topic just at the right time and asked with interest, “Master Yan, what’s it like to be newly married?”

Actually, this subject wasn’t very good either, but it didn’t seem to touch the boss’s bottom line. Yan Cheng rubbed his brow, and with a hint of satisfaction, he replied: “Not bad.”

“Hehehe, a spring breeze is written all over that face of yours.” There were three great celebrations in life since ancient times; one of them is the consummation of one’s marriage. Shao Chongsi guessed that his friend was pleased since others will no longer joke about him being a virgin. “I heard that Ms. Chen is very gentle and easy to subdue, is that right?”

Yan Cheng’s smile didn’t reach the bottom of his eyes. After a pause, he wiped his lips and replied, “It’s none of your business.”

“Why, I’m not allowed to ask?”

“…” be polite to your sister-in-law.

Although he didn’t voice out his thoughts,

everyone could guess the twists and turns, more or less.

They were all men, of course they knew how men think. A white moonlight, someone’s first love, was like a birthmark that couldn’t easily be erased.

And if you try to marry someone else casually, you won’t truly accept that person in your heart.

Otherwise, Yan Cheng wouldn’t be staying up so late in this bar.

‘Pop.’

Strong wine trickles down his throat.

As bitter as tear drops.

Until about 12:30 a.m.

With moist peach blossom eyes, Yan Cheng stood up from the sofa, put on his coat, and went his way.

Perhaps he was used to hiding his inner feelings due to his manly pride, or perhaps he wanted to refute the earlier question of whether he was able to ‘subdue’ his wife. In any case, Yan Cheng raised a brow and said without hesitation, “If I say one, my wife wouldn’t dare say two.”

Shao Chongsi gave him a thumbs up, “You’re amazing!”

Another of his friends was about to joke, saying they didn’t believe him.

But at that moment, Ah Tai suddenly pushed the door open and quickly announced, “Boss, the police are coming.”

………

It was a crackdown on pornography.

Someone reported that Er Guan was suspected of dabbling in prostitution.

As for who reported it, everyone in the room could make a good guess.

Unfortunately, since Yang Cheng was the owner of Er Guan, he had no choice but to comply with the police and follow them.

Shao Chongsi watched with wide eyes as the man was taken custody by the police.

“…”

Ah Tai looked at him meaningfully and said, “Hey, are you going to help my boss?” Those eyes gestured for him to clean up the mess.

———–

It’s about two o’clock in the middle of the night.

Chen Jinyao’s phone lit up.

Followed by Apple’s ringtones.

The cellphone was particularly loud within this quiet and still room.

Ten seconds later, it was still ringing relentlessly.

The woman on the bed turned over. After a moment’s pause, she slowly reached out and blindly groped around the bedside table. The curtains were slightly parted, allowing a sliver of moonlight to enter the room. She was bare underneath the blankets, and her exposed arm was beautifully white underneath the dim light.

She blearily opened her eyes to check the caller on her screen.

Since her sleep was interrupted, she tried to push aside her annoyance and wearily closed her eyes once again. Then, she gave a heavy sigh, glared at the phone, and finally accepted the call.

Only

“Hello.” The woman’s voice was a bit tired.

Unexpectedly, the other party’s voice was more hoarse and exhausted than hers.

Yan Cheng: “Hello, wife.”

“Yes, what’s the matter?” Chen Jinyao said as she tried to be patient with him.

There were a few seconds of silence between their conversation.

Yan Cheng stroked his chin, rubbing his unshaven stubble. “I’m at the police station right now. I need you to bail me out,” he said.

Chen Jinyao: “…What for?”

“Suspected of prostitution.”
