The Villain and the Cannon Fodder’s Mother

Chapter 109: Meng Yan and Lu Xun meet (3)

Lin Yiyi had sat back down.

By now, Housekeeper Zhang had brought Mr. Lu a cup of tea as well.

Even though it was sort of awkward with all of them sitting around together, it was at least better than earlier when the room was so cold that icicles were about to fall at any given minute.

Housekeeper Zhang clapped her hands together and left cheerfully. She should leave the youngsters to themselves.

“Thank you, Uncle Lu…” Meng Yuran seemed to have accepted his answer. “… for bringing the fish over for Mom, knowing that she’d like them.”

His words might seem very casual, but their meaning was quite different when it fell upon others’ ears.

Meng Yan looked at Lu Xun and then at Lin Yiyi. He frowned.

Lu Xun still had that smile on him, and he looked as gentlemanly as he always did.

As for Lin Yiyi… She felt that she had been shot in the knee with an arrow!

“What are you talking about?” She gave her instant son a look and said in a minorly irritated tone.

She had walked over to the front door by herself so none of the others realized what kind of a tool the Lu guy was. He only brought fish as a gift for her stepdad, but now that he was sitting right there with them, she didn’t want to put him on the spot.

Lin Yiyi felt that she wanted to explain herself but couldn’t.

Low and behold, Meng Yan gave a soft “Oh” followed by, “How come I seem to recall that you don’t like fish?”

Lin Yiyi was immediately unhappy. She rolled her eyes and gave Meng Yan a look.

What a surprise. A man who barely ever came home remembered that his ex-wife didn’t like fish?

Regardless, whether the Lin Yiyi in the novel liked fish or not, she herself liked them very much!

“What I love in the past isn’t the same as what I love now.”

Lin Yiyi smiled at him with her teeth visible and said, “I like fish quite a bit now.”

“We ate the fish that Uncle Lu gave grandpa last time over a course of two weeks,” interjected Meng Yuran.

Meng Yan: “……”

Meng Yan wondered if it was just his imagination. He had, once again, felt that he wasn’t very welcomed…

Her little bowl still in her hand, Meng Shanshan looked from one person to the next.

She felt that every single one of them was being odd. She was better off just focusing on eating her double-boiled milk pudding in her bowl!

The current atmosphere made Meng Yan feel very uncomfortable. Plus, with an outsider there, it was difficult for him to bring up his earlier subject with the two kids…

The fact that he was their birth father would not change. Perhaps, they’d change their minds next time.

Naturally, nobody stopped him from taking off.

Lin Yiyi was even rejoicing inside.

As soon as Meng Yan had left, Lin Yiyi looked over at Lu Xun right away.

She had wanted to find out how long he planned on staying, but in hindsight, hinting for him to leave seemed to be a little rude.

Meng Yuran, on the other hand, gave him a cold glance and said, “Hey, when are you taking off?”

He was “Uncle Lu” when Meng Yan was here. Now that Meng Yan was gone, he had turned into “Hey”…

Little kiddo, do you feel that you are being a little bit too pragmatic?

“When I got here, I was told by Ms. Lin that we will have fish together…” said Lu Xun with a smile. “I think grilled fish sounds pretty good.”

As soon as Meng Shanshan heard grill fish, her eyes beamed. “I want grilled fish too!”

She was about to start drooling when she heard grilled fish…

The little girl was too busy gulping to notice the disappointment in her brother’s eyes as he looked at her.
