Chapter 69: Thanks for the Gift from the Second Young Master
Abigail was pondering how to break this engagement, when she heard a cool male voice behind her, sounding exceptionally pleasant.
It came with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
“Yes, on the same day as the second young master. Isn’t that a coincidence?” Abigail turned her head to look at Brandon Piers, who was wearing black cotton loungewear and slippers.
The man was naturally fair, and the black clothes made his exposed skin appear as delicate as porcelain, cold and pricey.
That captivatingly beautiful face of his curved into a smile at Abigail’s words, his pink lips curling up, “Maybe it’s fate.”
“Being fated with the second young master is my honor.” After their last encounter, Abigail hadn’t seen him for a while, but her attitude remained as nonchalant as ever. She didn’t mind indulging the young master’s little whims.
Brandon’s lips twitched with amusement. He didn’t see any hint of ‘honor’ in this chubby girl’s demeanor.
“So you really intend to marry that trash?” Brandon couldn’t fathom the woman’s thoughts and ignored Abigail’s response, suddenly asking seriously.
Pullan, who was behind them, felt like face-palming. You didn’t even change your clothes and rushed over here just to ask this when you heard Lincoln Green had come to see Miss Abigail?
Others might think you were interested in a chubby girl.
Abigail glanced at the direction Lincoln Green had left. “Second young master, do you think I can refuse?”
Considering Lincoln Green’s tough attitude today, Abigail believed that if she didn’t agree, her father would make her agree.
And even if Lincoln Green couldn’t, Rose and her mother would find a way to make her agree.
“Why can’t you?” Brandon remembered this chubby girl admitting she liked that scumbag last time, and his tone turned somewhat displeased.
Over the past few days, Brandon had come to understand Abigail better. Given her personality, if she was unwilling, she would never compromise. Saying this now meant that she was willing.
This possibility made Brandon feel very upset.
The chubby girl sitting on the chair was still oblivious, looking confused. “Second young master, have you been a bit idle recently?”
This implied he was meddlesome.
“Heh.” Brandon chuckled lightly, tossed something into Abigail’s lap, and walked towards his own room in slippers.
Abigail picked up the item in her lap, glanced at his retreating figure, and frowned, “A USB drive?”
For some reason, Abigail thought of the scene when Brandon broke into her hotel room that day, and had a hunch.
“Abigail, it’s about time, bring Teddy down.” Just as Abigail was about to verify her guess, she heard Kelly’s voice.
Abigail hurriedly put away the item and picked up the still-sleeping little one.
Today, there was a full-month banquet. Early in the morning, they had dressed Teddy in a red monk’s suit with a red graduation cap, looking adorable.
Due to Abigail’s status, she handed the child to Kelly as soon as she got downstairs.
When she passed by Lincoln Green, his concealed anger in his eyes made Abigail want to laugh. He probably thought she was embarrassing again.
Today, Ruby and Rose were not here, presumably because their injuries would take some time to heal.
With that thought, Abigail felt much happier. At the staircase, she ran into Brandon, who had changed into a suit. She stepped aside and, when the man walked past, suddenly said, “Thank you for the gift, second young master.”
Brandon raised an eyebrow. It seemed the chubby girl had guessed what it was.
The next day, Lincoln Green came personally to fetch Abigail.
As George Piers’ grandfather, the Piers family gave enough honor to Lincoln Green, making it hard for Abigail to refuse.
Once in the car, Lincoln Green’s face turned cold. “Behave well later. Master Stone is a good match for you. You should be grateful.”
“I’m not good enough for Master Stone. Father, please annul the engagement.” Hearing Father Green’s words, Abigail’s sneer was hardly concealed.
“Annul it? As if you’d let go. Everyone knows you like Clark. Now you’re giving yourself airs. The betrothal gifts are already exchanged. Don’t even think about annulling it.” Lincoln Green scoffed, dismissing Abigail’s words entirely.
Abigail was stunned. The betrothal gifts had already been exchanged?
