Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 150: Side Effect

Unable to even stand properly, Xu Feng collapsed to the ground, his breathing becoming difficult.

\'Ugh, the side effect is really not a laughing matter.\' Xu Feng had only heard of the rumor from other players who had utilized the hidden effect of baptism.

He thought those players were exaggerating and merely boasting around.

Who would have thought it was true and the side effects could possibly traumatize one to never use the skill again?

His mentality might have been fortified quite heavily, but even now, Xu Feng was somewhat regretful in using it. The current him felt no different than a paralyzed patient who could only use his eyes to gaze at the ceiling.

Just at this moment, Xu Feng heard a panicked tone from a distance, calling out for him.

"Feng, are you okay?" Zhao Kai continued to ask as he dashed toward him and checked on his condition.

"Your face is pale. How did this happen?" Upon noticing Xu Feng\'s complexion, Zhao Kai was shocked by his state.

Just earlier, Xu Feng was still lively and fierce, dominating the battlefield.

However, in less than a few seconds, he now looked no different than a corpse.

"You\'ve got any health potions?" Xu Feng asked weakly. His Heal was in cooldown, and he could barely move a muscle to consume them.

"Yeah, I have them. Just give me a second." Zhao Kai responded, retrieving multiple health potions from his inventory.

After that, he lifted Xu Feng up slightly and helped him consume the health potion.

One bottle after another, Xu Feng\'s complexion slowly turned for the better by the time he consumed the fifth health potion.

"Alright, that\'s enough." Xu Feng quickly said when he noticed Zhao Kai was going to open another health potion.

"If I drink anymore, then I might vomit it all out."

"A-Are you sure?"

"Yeah, just place me down by the tree and kill the remaining wolves." Xu Feng said and pointed at the leader, along with some other wolves who lay motionless on the ground.

"I\'m in a bit of a predicament, so I won\'t gain much experience points. But it\'s not the same for you, so you\'re definitely going to gain a ton if you get the final hit on them." He explained, his tone still somewhat weak.

Nodding his head, Zhao Kai didn\'t even bother asking why he did such a thing.

He simply lifted Xu Feng up and carried him over to a nearby tree to rest while he went ahead and dealt the killing blow to the remaining wolves.

Although he gained quite an abundant amount of experience points, his level remained the same. The experience points required to level up to 6 was insane, and he was barely around the 34% mark.

"Feng, I\'m going to gather the corpse and materials now." Zhao Kai said, getting to work as a harvester.

Though the truth was, even if Xu Feng wasn\'t in such a weakened state, Zhao Kai would still want to gather the materials himself.

Had it not been his mistake which resulted in such an outcome, then maybe the operation would have been more ideal. Additionally, Xu Feng wouldn\'t have needed to overwork himself and take on the mantle to do everything.

\'Feng is a cleric while I\'m a gun knight. So why am I unable to help much?\' Zhao Kai blamed himself while gathering the necessary materials.

Time slowly passed by, and Zhao Kai finished calculating the total loot.

Without a doubt, they managed to gather more than 50 Shadow Wolves Pelt, completing their mission.

Of course, they still needed to turn over the material to Fiona to truly call it an official completion.

Heading back to the tree where Xu Feng was lying to rest, Zhao Kai reported, "Feng, we finished gathering the materials required by Fiona."

Zhao Kai expected a quick response, but Xu Feng merely kept silent and gazed at him.

Using a little bit of his strength, Xu Feng patted his palm on the ground next to him.

This kind of indication didn\'t need much explanation, given it was evident that Xu Feng was telling him to take a seat.

With a somewhat nervous and bitter smile, Zhao Kai took his seat without question. His hands began sweating and he was feeling anxious.

"Kai, don\'t dwell too much on your mistake and blame yourself. We\'re humans after all, and which humans don\'t make mistakes?" Xu Feng commented weakly.

And he continued, "Instead of constantly blaming yourself silently. How about using that energy to improve yourself and learn how to prevent such a situation again?"

"Huh?" Stunned, Zhao Kai turned to him with a dazed look.

"Don\'t huh me." Xu Feng rolled his eyes and weakly lifted his finger to give him a flick on the forehead.

The action was slow, but Zhao Kai didn\'t bother dodging despite being able to evade it easily.

The flick this time wasn\'t even hard and he barely felt the flick. Nevertheless, for some reason, he felt this flick hurt even harder than previous times.

The reason was that Xu Feng\'s words were nothing short of consolation. He didn\'t blame him at all and was instead hoping that he would get over this hurdle already.

"Feng, are you really not mad?" Zhao Kai bit his lips softly and mustered his courage to ask such a question.

"Oh please. Stop acting like some sentimental fool and return to your normal composure already." Xu Feng rolled his eyes and flashed a disgusted expression.

"You look really disgusting right now, and if you continue, I\'ll expose your misdeeds to your eldest sister. Let\'s see if she will buy your sadness."

"What? How could you even think of snitching on me, Feng?" Zhao Kai exclaimed in disbelief.

"If you dare snitch on me or if my eldest sister suddenly questions me. Then I\'m going to thrash you!"

"Yeah, right. As if you could thrash me, to begin with." Xu Feng chuckled softly.

"Who said I can\'t thrash you? Look at your current pathetic state!" Zhao Kai grinned and flexed his fist.
