Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 142: Habitat

Time slowly passed by, and the remaining monsters were frightened deeply by Zhao Kai\'s fervor. Instead of fighting any further and losing more of their kin, they made a sound to signal a retreat.

"Not so fast!" Zhao Kai snorted coldly, seemingly ready to chase after them.

However, his head was suddenly bonked, and Zhao Kai turned around with a fierce expression, only to quickly be drenched when he saw who it was.

"Do you want another bonk?" Xu Feng asked in a deadpan tone.

"No…" Zhao Kai rubbed his head like a child who got caught doing something bad.

Xu Feng kept a stern expression as he warned solemnly. "Pay attention to the usage of your Gluttony skill. It might not seem like it, but your emotion is being affected if you let it control you."

"Huh?" Confused, he tilted his head sideways. "How can a skill affect my emotions?"

Xu Feng shook his head and directly sent a video to him.

He was recording his fight earlier to show his improvement afterward, but who would have thought it helped him spot a troublesome ticking bomb.

\'It seems like I need to research more regarding Kai\'s Gluttony skill.\' He knitted his brows.

Initially, he thought Zhao Kai had a sadistic hidden side to him, but as time passed by, he realized it wasn\'t that. Instead, he was being affected by the Gluttony skill, and the more blood he saw, the more excited he would become.

"T-This was me?" Zhao Kai exclaimed in disbelief, clearly shocked that the person in the video was him.

"How was I so bloodthirsty?" He questioned. Now that the Gluttony skill was worn off, especially thanks to the bonk Xu Feng gave him, he regained his normal composure.

Hence, he was utterly astonished that he had turned into some crazed villain, seeking blood and relishing in it.

"Refrain from using your Gluttony skill too much. Only use it for emergencies and make sure you learn how to regulate your emotions." Xu Feng warned sternly, unwilling to let him descend into madness.

Others might have thought he was overreacting, but only he knew just how much Divine World skills would affect a player within the game and in the real world.

As if he would let this problem fester now that he discovered it.

\'Was this also why those players with the Gluttony skills in the past were always so crazy and bloodthirsty?\' Xu Feng knitted his brows, seemingly trying to find the connection and how to resolve the matter.

Truth be told, he only heard of players with the EX Gluttony skill and information based on multiple sources which he compiled together.

Thus, he didn\'t have exact and precise information regarding it.

And with Zhao Kai showing such symptoms already, Xu Feng needed to tread with it more cautiously.

It was a good thing that Zhao Kai didn\'t seem to care much and simply gave him a thumbs up. "Alright, I\'ll stop using the Gluttony skill unless it is an emergency."

As for the reason?

He didn\'t need to know, given Xu Feng wouldn\'t have requested such a thing if it was beneficial to him.

"Alright, collect the monster corpse first and we shall move along. The Shadow Wolves\' habitat shouldn\'t be far from here, given those monsters earlier should have been the weaker ones." Xu Feng glanced at the dark path ahead and said.

Just like how humans are defensive toward their own place, monsters react in similar ways.

The stronger monsters would naturally have their own habitat, and weaker ones would be kicked out or forced away unless they wished to seek their own demise.

Sometime later, Zhao Kai finished collecting the corpses and handed them over to Xu Feng.

"You are really making me work as a coolie, Feng." Zhao Kai complained subtly. He might not be well off, but never did he need to work as some low-wage worker. Yet Xu Feng was very unscrupulous in overworking him.

The monsters were killed by him, and it was also collected by him.

Meanwhile, all Xu Feng did was stand in the back and watch as if he were some wise sage or master who was training their disciples.

Sure enough, Xu Feng merely responded with a sharp glint, reflective of his glasses, instantly prompting Zhao Kai to turn around and whistle away.

"I\'m just training you into making this a habit." Xu Feng explained after a few seconds. "Remember, resources in the Divine World are very scarce and not many could get what they wanted. So you must always loot the things you work hard for properly and never let anyone snatch it."

"I understand…"

Whether Zhao Kai truly understood or was just saying it, Xu Feng no longer intended to force-feed more information and advice than necessary.

As the two resumed their journey, they soon spotted a few Shadow Wolves patrolling within a specific range.

Instantly, Xu Feng pulled Zhao Kai and signaled him to stay quiet in a nearby bush. His eyes narrowed as he inspected the path movement of the Shadow Wolves.

Aside from some glimpse of the patrolling Shadow wolves, its habitat was shrouded in darkness, with the moonlight barely piercing through the dense canopy of twisted trees.

The ground was uneven and covered in a thick layer of fallen leaves and moss, which muffled the sound of the wolves\' footsteps but made it difficult for the untrained eye to spot them.

The occasional rustle of leaves and distant howls of the wolves was like a ticking bomb, ready to explode at any moment.

As Xu Feng glanced at Zhao Kai\'s condition, he sighed softly. \'Kai is still not experienced in fighting at nighttime, so I can only resort to the other tactic.\'
